Cody Beard is a trumpet artist and educator based in Upstate South Carolina, specializing historical trumpet performance.

Distinguished as an emerging figure in the early music domain, Cody has garnered acclaim for his expertise as a baroque trumpeter collaborating with period ensembles such as the North Carolina Baroque Orchestra, Musica Transalpina, Handel Choir of Baltimore, SC Bach, Durham Choral Society, Marllame Music and others. Recently, Cody won Third Prize in the solo division of the 2025 North American Baroque Trumpet Competition and Conference held at the Eastman School of Music. As a fervent advocate for period performance and pedagogy, Cody actively champions the preservation and exploration of historical brass instruments and techniques by giving masterclasses, lectures and recitals on period instruments.

As a modern trumpet performer, Cody has performed with notable orchestras such as the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, Spartanburg Philharmonic, Greenville Symphony, and Charleston Symphony Orchestras. His collaborations extend beyond orchestral settings, performing with groups such as Mannheim Steamroller and Celtic Woman.

As an educator, Cody leads a thriving private studio where he teaches students of all skill levels, as well as gives baroque trumpet lessons.

Cody earned his Bachelor's Degree in Music from Lander University and a Masters in Trumpet Performance at the University of Idaho. Cody studied under the tutelage of mentors including Reed Gallo, Philip Smith, Vern Sielert, Kathryn Adduci, and Wolfgang Navratil.
